Turning Day Into Night

2008.06.13
Here's the altered photo made to look like a moonlit night....

Here's the original photo....

This was really fun to do!

A more artsy example this time.....a yucca in full bloom in the sunlight....

...changed to night!

Nighttime effects are added by shifting the hue/saturation to blue (and checking the "colorize" box) and then doing multiple layers of decreasing the levels of the sky, and increasing the levels of the blooms. (I used the blending options of "screen" and multiply" in the layers palate to do this) Then I did some selective erasing of sections of layers, and after flattened, a little clone tool work around the flowers. I finished with a dry brush filter.

Trying out a photoshop technique from my new book: The Digital Photographer's Guide To Photoshop Elements 4, by Barry Beckman. I use Photoshop 6, but find this guide very helpful even with my older edition.

Good Night!
